Principal Engineer

• All responsibilities of a Senior Engineer.
• General title associated with the Assistant Manager of an Engineering Discipline.
• Facilitate and coordinate remote workshare.
• Converse with the Client and identify scope change.
• Facilitate the project requirements and implement potentially creative solutions “outside the box” type of thinking.
• Coordinate multiple individuals on large projects and large suites of projects.
• Serve as a qualified expert in engineering discipline capable of making key technical decisions on a project.
• Complete large and complex proposal requests for EP or EPC efforts.
• Complete detailed execution plans for medium and high complexity projects.
• Support complex checking and function as SME or future SME of the group.
• Retain Managerial responsibilities with such responsibilities as department initiative and enhancements, time sheet approvals, P&D and Talent planning input, support department resource planning, update/enhance discipline procedures, etc.
• Support completing department approvals and attending Design Reviews in lieu of the Discipline Manager.
• Support Discipline Manager on project workflow and check print audits on active projects.
• Back-up for day-to-day Manager administrative efforts and decisions when Discipline Manager is out of office.
• Fully understand the entire Zachry Quality process including as it pertains to the other disciplines.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• Has 20 to 30 years of experience in the EPC industry.
• A graduate of any engineering course.
• Has strong technical skills in accordance with several industry standards and codes.
• SME on project change and change management.
• SME on complex schedule development and respect to precursor and successors and resource loading.
• Served in several field assignments specific to design, constructability, and safety.
• Advanced ability and understanding of recognizing project change and basic understanding of change management procedure with the ability to translate to engineering change notices.
• SME level resource capable of supporting the development of all details associated with engineering as it pertains to cost estimates. Includes some general experience associated with risk assessments, risk registers, and developing a contingency basis and project execution on large capital projects.
• Advanced understanding of complex project planning and forecasting with more advanced knowledge and experience using earned value and managing rules of credit.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Passed the Board Licensure Examination
• Advanced knowledge in several industries
• Management experience
