Principal Engineer

GTH Software, SkillOnNet's R&D center, is seeking a Principal Engineer to join our backend department and play a pivotal role in building our backend platform.

The Role

The Principal Engineer is our highest individual contributor role. You will shape the Platform's long-term technical direction, drive architectural strategy across multiple teams, and stay deeply hands-on. You will serve as a trusted advisor to engineering leadership and a force multiplier for the organization.

Responsibilities

• Architecture & Design

• Define and own the technical vision and architecture of the Casino Platform

• Design and evolve the platform's core systems: transaction processing, real-time event pipelines, data architecture, and API contracts

• Produce and maintain architectural blueprints, design principles, and technology roadmaps

• Evaluate build vs. buy decisions and guide the adoption of new technologies and patterns

• Establish data architecture standards across Oracle DB, MongoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch

• Define strategies for scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, and security

• Hands-On Engineering

• Lead the design and implementation of the most critical and complex platform components

• Write, review, and validate production code — setting the standard for the engineering organization

• Drive performance engineering: profiling, load testing, and system-wide optimization

• Engage directly in critical incidents as the highest technical escalation point

• Cross-Cutting Leadership

• Act as a technical mentor and coach for senior engineers, team leads, and architects

• Partner with product, security, infrastructure, and compliance teams on platform-wide initiatives

• Represent engineering in executive and stakeholder forums, translating complex technical topics clearly

• Champion engineering culture: quality, pragmatism, ownership, and continuous improvement

• Drive technical due diligence for partnerships, integrations, and platform expansions

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong backend and distributed systems foundation

• Recognized expertise in Java and Spring Boot at scale

• Deep, production-proven mastery of Oracle DB, MongoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch

• Extensive experience architecting distributed, event-driven, high-throughput systems

• Demonstrated track record of defining and delivering platform-level technical strategy

• Experience operating and scaling systems on private cloud or on-premises infrastructure

• Exceptional written and verbal communication — able to influence at all levels of the organization

• Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data governance in regulated environments

Nice to Have

• iGaming, fintech, or payments platform experience at scale

• Experience with event streaming (Kafka) and real-time data platforms

• Familiarity with multi-region or multi-datacenter deployment strategies

• Prior experience as a distinguished engineer, architect, or equivalent principal-level role
