What they need
- DWS’s data infrastructure team provides the secure, scalable, and trustworthy foundation for storing, processing, and distributing critical enterprise data
- As Principal Engineer, you will set the technical vision and architectural direction for our strategic data platforms, shaping decisions that influence multiple teams and critical business capabilities
- You’ll lead through technical authority, define engineering standards, mentor senior engineers, and contribute directly to architecture and key implementation decisions
- Define the long-term technical vision and roadmap for the data platform in partnership with the Head of Technology and architecture leadership
- Own the end-to-end architecture and key technical decisions across the platform and its supporting systems, from ingestion through distribution
- Set and evolve engineering standards for platform infrastructure, data modeling, testing, observability, and lineage
- Mentor senior and staff engineers through design leadership, code reviews, and hands-on technical guidance
- Collaborate with architects, security engineers, control functions, the Chief Data Office, and other stakeholders to improve compliance, security posture, and reliability
- Work with product owners and internal customers to translate product vision and demand into platform capabilitie- Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and attention to detail
- Extensive experience running production data platforms and cloud infrastructure at enterprise scale
- Strong understanding of data governance and IT compliance in regulated environments
- Strong programming skills
- Deep expertise in modern data platforms, preferably Snowflake and its ecosystem as well as complex data modernization projects
- 12+ years in platform engineering, ideally on enterprise data platforms; a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or similar is a plus
- Excellent track record of leading, mentoring and transforming engineering teams
- Proven ability to lead technical decisions across complex enterprises and influence without formal authority
- Fluent English, written and spoken- Posting period: 12.09.2025 until further notice
