A little more about your role…

As a Principal Fire Engineer, you’ll typically be working on big national and international Rail and Road infrastructure projects projects. All with the same goal of enabling innovative architectural design without compromising on the fire safety of the building.

You’ll be running through design information, liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and helping to inform the design team about what changes could be made to increase the safety of the building.

Naturally, there is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through a variation of software packages, fire standards, team briefings and client updates from the start but we’re a nice bunch and we regularly get together for social events.

In addition to the above day to day role, we will assist the successful candidate toward his/her professional registration via IFE and other professional organisations.

At WSP, we have multiple opportunity for our fire engineers to grow via a bespoke programme designed to provide you with both professional skills and specialist technical development opportunities. The programme is supported by our senior leadership team and is tailored give you the support, guidance and the development opportunities you need to help you work towards chartered status or equivalent professional qualifications. The structured programme includes but is not limited to training in:

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.

Experience within the fire engineering consulting industry

Experience in Rail Fire Engineering

This role can be based from any of our Manchester or London offices. Other offices may be considered.
