ABOUT THE ROLE

The MRDI is seeking motivated Principal Engineer / Lead Engineer / Senior Engineer, GaN Device to support and lead the R&D of advanced GaN power devices in MRDI, Hong Kong. The successful candidates will work closely with process, packaging, reliability, test, and fab teams, as well as leading industry partners to develop advanced power devices from concept to demonstration.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and simulate advanced GaN devices, including device/epi structures, layout, and thermal/circuit characteristics; prepare project, layout, wafer, test, tape-out, package, and qualification plans.
• Analyze simulation and experimental data; prepare formal technical reports and technical marketing materials; propose design/process improvements; and drive device performance toward targets.
• Define process flows, mask sets, unit-process specifications, and DOE/split-lot plans for GaN devices.
• Work closely with process and process integration engineers, colleagues in the team, and the MRDI Fab to develop, qualify, and transfer robust processes.
• Support inline metrology, failure analysis, yield improvement, and process-window optimization.
• Develop compact/SPICE models, Verilog-A models, test structures, corners, and PDK components.
• Validate models against measured data and support internal/external design kits and EDA flows.
• Mentor junior engineers/students, review technical work, and promote best practices.
• Generate IP, patents, publications, and technical documentation.
• Follow safety, quality, and IP compliance requirements.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the team leader.

REQUIREMNETS

• Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Physics, or a related discipline. Fresh graduates are welcome. (Senior: 0 to 3 years of relevant experience; Lead: 5+ years of relevant experience; Principal: 8+ years or equivalent)

• Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics and power semiconductor devices.

• Experience with TCAD simulation tools.

• Experience in power device processing, characterization, simulation, and modeling.

• Proficiency in data analysis and DOE (Python, MATLAB, JMP, Minitab, etc.).

• Good analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese or English.

Expected commencement Date: 1 March 2027

Note: The actual rank and position offered will be commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience*.*

The initial employment contract spans 12 months and can be renewed with a longer tenure upon mutual agreement of the incumbent and MRDI. The incumbent will normally work five days a week. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A gratuity of 15% of the salary will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the contract.
