Principal Engineer - Platform Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Engineer - Platform Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Telecommunications & Hardware space.

This role will shape the strategy and technical direction of a large-scale Kubernetes platform supporting critical workloads across a modern infrastructure environment. The person in this role will drive reliability, developer productivity, and operational excellence while partnering closely with senior technology and business leaders. This is a highly influential engineering position focused on multi-year platform evolution, production readiness, and cross-organizational execution.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $250,600 – $362,600 annually

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve the Kubernetes platform strategy for critical workloads
• Lead the design and implementation of platform capabilities that improve reliability and developer productivity
• Collaborate with multiple leaders to define and execute multi-year platform roadmaps
• Provide technical leadership during incidents and architecture reviews
• Mentor senior engineers and elevate engineering quality through design and operational excellence

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems
• 7+ years of hands-on Kubernetes platform operations in multi-cluster environments
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure across AWS, Azure, GCP, or hybrid clouds
• Proficiency in networking architectures for Kubernetes platforms, including traffic management and observability
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps technologies such as Terraform and ArgoCD or similar tools
• Demonstrated history of cross-organizational leadership in platform initiatives
• Experience implementing SRE practices for production environments
