Principal Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing Geotechnical team and play a key leadership role in the continued development of our business.

This is an opportunity for a highly experienced geotechnical professional to combine technical leadership, project delivery, client relationships and business development, while mentoring a team and helping shape the future direction of our Geotechnical Group.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide senior technical and strategic leadership across a diverse range of geotechnical engineering projects. Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight across geotechnical investigations, analysis, design and reporting
• Lead complex geotechnical investigation projects from planning through to delivery
• Provide expert technical advice and innovative engineering solutions to clients and project teams
• Review and approve geotechnical reports, designs and technical documentation
• Manage projects from small through to large scale, including budgets, schedules, field personnel and client liaison
• Coordinate field investigations, laboratory testing and subcontractors
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
• Prepare fee proposals, tender submissions and technical presentations
• Mentor and develop geotechnical engineers and support the growth of the Geotechnical Group

About you

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Geotechnical Engineering) or equivalent recognised qualification
• 10–15+ years' experience in geotechnical consulting, with extensive Australian experience
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility
• RPEQ, NER or equivalent registration, or be working towards registration
• Strong project management and technical report writing skills
• Proven client relationship and business development experience
• Excellent communication, leadership and mentoring skills
• Current Australian Driver Licence
• Full working rights in Australia
