Apply extensive in-depth expertise and problem-solving methodologies to accomplish, plan, and review tasks across multiple large scope projects in various technical areas. The Infrastructure Engineering function within Employee Compute is responsible for hardware direction that underpins virtual desktop infrastructure and related compute services at global scale, partnering with product, engineering, procurement, facilities, cybersecurity, and control organizations to deliver resilient, cost-effective platform outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
- Define and own a multi-year data center hardware strategy for virtual desktop infrastructure and adjacent infrastructure services, translating business demand into sequenced, measurable investment roadmaps.
- Establish and run a dedicated hardware decision framework that continuously evaluates market, vendor, architecture, and lifecycle trends, while setting standards for storage, networking, rack design, and performance economics.
- Lead cost-value-benefit analysis and develop decision-ready business cases for major hardware initiatives in partnership with product, finance, and control stakeholders.
- Drive cross-functional execution and lifecycle governance across engineering, data center operations, facilities, procurement, cybersecurity, and risk teams, including supply resilience and supportability planning.
- Own outcome transparency through KPI operating cadence and governance updates on capacity, unit economics, reliability trends, and regulatory/control readiness.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Formal training or certification in computer science, engineering, or related discipline, with 15+ years of applied infrastructure technology experience and 7+ years in principal engineering or senior leadership roles.
- Proven ownership of enterprise data center hardware strategy in complex environments, with direct accountability for high-value decisions, measurable business impact, and lifecycle risk management.
- Strong expertise in storage architecture and data center networking tradeoffs relevant to virtual desktop infrastructure, including reliability, scale, and operational supportability.
- Demonstrated depth in rack-level efficiency and site constraints, including power, cooling, density, cabling, and floor-space optimization across enterprise deployments.
- Demonstrated ability to influence vendor strategy and produce financially rigorous business cases in regulated environments with strong audit, controls, and executive stakeholder management.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Experience in financial services or similarly regulated sectors with large-scale data center operations and strict resilience expectations.
- Experience partnering directly with end-user compute or virtual desktop infrastructure product organizations to shape hardware strategy based on persona demand, service-level objectives, and growth forecasts.
- Track record establishing formal hardware governance models that replaced fragmented decisioning with repeatable, evidence-driven portfolio management.
- Experience with advanced data center optimization practices, including telemetry-driven capacity planning and efficiency benchmarking across sites.
- Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, or related field is a plus.

- Pragmatic and outcome-oriented, balancing technical rigor with delivery speed and operational reliability.
- Influences and is comfortable driving partners to meet enterprise standards and timelines.
- Commercially astute, able to connect architecture choices to financial outcomes and long-term portfolio value.
- Establishes durable operating models and technical standards that remain effective as the organization evolves.
