Principal IT Technologist – SAP Master Data Governance (MDG)

We’re actively seeking a Principal IT Technologist with deep SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) expertise to lead enterprise architecture, technical strategy, and solution delivery. This role will focus on building scalable master data capabilities, improving data quality, and driving enterprise transformation through innovative technology solutions.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on SAP MDG and ECC technical expertise with enterprise architecture leadership, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate complex business challenges into production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the enterprise strategy, roadmap, reference architecture, and technical standards for SAP MDG and master data management.
• Lead architecture and technical governance for secure, scalable SAP MDG solutions integrated with SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP BTP, enterprise data platforms, and third-party applications.
• Provide technical leadership across Material, Customer, Supplier/Vendor, Business Partner, Finance, Product, Reference, and Hierarchy Data.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions, implementation plans, and measurable business outcomes.
• Design, configure, and troubleshoot SAP MDG solutions, including data modeling, integrations, APIs, workflows, automation, and data quality controls.
• Prototype and validate solutions involving data quality, workflow optimization, integration, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Partner with business leaders, product owners, architects, engineers, data teams, and external partners to deliver solutions from concept through production deployment.
• Provide technical leadership during implementations, data conversions, cutovers, stabilization, and production issue resolution.
• Establish data governance standards, data quality controls, lineage, decision rights, and accountability in collaboration with data owners and stewards.
• Develop reusable architecture patterns and technical solutions that support enterprise transformation, acquisitions, divestitures, and continuous improvement.
• Document system specifications, configurations, interfaces, and testing procedures while ensuring compliance with architecture, security, and regulatory standards.
• Evaluate system performance, identify deficiencies, and implement enhancements to improve functionality, data integrity, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing SAP MDG solutions.
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or technical leadership roles.
• Strong hands-on technical expertise with SAP MDG and SAP ECC, including configuration, data modeling, integrations, APIs, workflows, automation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience integrating SAP MDG with SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, enterprise data platforms, and third-party applications.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex business problems into deployed enterprise solutions while balancing architecture standards, regulatory requirements, delivery timelines, and business outcomes.
• Strong understanding of master data management, data governance, data quality, and master data lifecycle management.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams.

Position Details

• Schedule: 40 hours per week
• Location: Remote candidates will be considered; candidates near Mounds View, MN, are preferred.
• Onsite Expectations: Part-time onsite for local candidates. Occasional travel to Mounds View may be required for candidates located elsewhere.
