Principal ML Developer

As a Principal ML Algorithm Developer, you will play a pivotal role in developing innovative machine learning algorithms and data-driven models for the next generation of AspenTech’s subsurface and engineering solutions. We are seeking a sharp, disciplined, and highly quantitative individual with a passion for working with complex data and cutting-edge technologies, leveraging your expertise in machine learning to design, develop and enhance core algorithms for oil and gas industry.

This position presents unique challenges, including the adoption of machine learning methodologies for subsurface data, handling extremely large datasets, and optimizing parallel computing, all within a collaborative environment where team members share knowledge and work on joint projects. The role will leverage the capabilities of AI tools to enhance development efficiency, accelerate innovation, and address complex technical challenges.

Job Description

• Design and develop machine learning algorithms in the geophysical domain.
• Research and evaluate advanced machine learning approaches and emerging technologies.
• Optimize code for runtime acceleration of large-scale jobs (HPC).
• Work in collaboration with various teams in R&D, Testing and Product.

Your Impact

• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and software developers to develop new machine learning applications for the subsurface exploration systems
• Collaborate with customers, product managers and technical staff to develop technology strategies to promote continuous innovation in our geophysical domain
• Investigate new and developing technologies as they appear in industry and academia and determine how to leverage these new technologies into our

Additional Job Description

• BSc degree in Computer Science, Geo Science, Physics, Math, Statistics, or other similar scientific discipline
• Experience in Machine Learning and Neural Networks
• Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn
• Experience in Geoscience or related fields such as medical imaging, computer vision, machine vision, remote sensing, or scientific imaging – Advantage
• Programming experience in C++ - Advantage
• Written and verbal fluency in English
• Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills
