Job Overview:

The Principal Operations Engineer, Electrical will serve as the most senior technical authority for operational electrical infrastructure across a hyperscale AI data-center fleet. This role involves leading site assessments, operational audits, and technical-readiness efforts, as well as ensuring operational readiness and commissioning-to-operations handoffs for new sites. The position requires substantial travel and a strong background in mission-critical electrical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the senior technical authority for operational electrical infrastructure.
• Lead site assessments, operational audits, and technical-readiness efforts before site activation.
• Review designs and specifications from an operational perspective and provide feedback.
• Own electrical operational readiness and commissioning-to-operations handoffs for new sites.
• Author and approve high-risk electrical MOPs, EOPs, and AOPs.
• Lead root-cause analysis for significant electrical events through closure.
• Collaborate with operations, design, construction, hardware, and EHS teams.
• Act as a technical force multiplier for cluster leads and field engineers.
• Travel approximately 50%–75% across the data-center fleet.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience running mission-critical electrical systems, with a background in trades or field operations.
• Strong knowledge of switchgear, UPS systems, generators, paralleling, ATS/STS, PDUs, and EPMS in live critical environments.
• Proven experience authoring and executing high-risk electrical MOPs.
• Experience leading root-cause analysis for significant electrical events through resolution.
• Ability to assess operational readiness, audit site posture, and raise technical standards.
• Strong technical-readiness and team-development capabilities.
• Preferred experience with hyperscale or large colocation environments operating at hundreds of megawatts.
• Preferred expertise in NETA, NFPA 70E, EPMS platforms, arc-flash and electrical-safety programs, and Uptime Institute standards.

Pay Range: $250,000 - $270,000

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
