What they need
We are looking for an accomplished and visionary Principal Piping Engineer with 18+ years of dedicated Oil & Gas experience to act as the technical authority for piping engineering and stress analysis across complex onshore and offshore projects. In this high-impact leadership role, you will govern engineering standards, spearhead complex stress evaluations for FPSO topsides and downstream facilities, and direct multidisciplinary teams to ensure flawless technical and commercial delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Authority: Serve as the primary technical authority and subject matter expert for Piping Engineering across all company offshore and onshore projects.
- Deliverable Oversight: Lead, direct, and review comprehensive piping designs, stress analysis reports, general layouts, critical support philosophies, and material selection documents.
- Code Compliance: Ensure full compliance of critical piping systems with design codes such as ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, and B31.8.
- Specialized Offshore Stress Analysis: Drive complex stress evaluations for FPSO topsides, accounting for hull deflection, vessel motion dynamics, module interfaces, turrets/swivels, flares, risers, and hook-up piping.
- Downstream & Facility Review: Oversee piping systems for refineries, petrochemical plants, chemical complexes, fertilizer units, and bulk storage terminals.
- Advanced Stress & Interface Assessments: Perform equipment nozzle load, piping vibration, and local stress evaluations using API, NEMA, and WRC standards (e.g., WRC 107/537).
- 3D Model & Layout Review: Validate 3D design models, plant layouts, equipment interfaces, and stress-critical routing using tools like E3D/PDMS or SP3D.
- Safety & Risk Mitigation: Actively participate in HAZOP, HAZID, constructability, safety audits, and operability reviews.
- Project & Resource Management: Manage discipline man-hours, resource allocation, schedule estimates, CTRs (Cost, Time, Resources), and project budgets.
- Stakeholder & Class Liaison: Lead high-level technical discussions with international clients, EPC contractors, and marine classification societies.
- Site & Yard Support: Conduct field visits, fabrication-yard audits, FPSO integration checks, and construction/hook-up support.
- Team Leadership & Standardization: Mentor junior and senior piping engineers across multiple locations while standardizing checking workflows and design procedures.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 18+ years of core Oil & Gas piping engineering experience, featuring a minimum of 12 years dedicated to Piping Stress Analysis and at least 8 years in a Lead Stress / Piping Lead / Head of Piping capacity.
- Technical Proficiencies: Advanced, hands-on mastery of CAESAR II, alongside solid familiarity with 3D modeling platforms (E3D, PDMS, or SP3D).
- Domain Exposure: Extensive expertise in FPSO topsides (hull/motion analysis) combined with strong downstream project exposure (refineries, petrochemicals, terminals).
- Standards Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of ASME, API, WRC, and NEMA codes.
- Preferred Qualifications: Middle East project/client background, willingness to travel domestically and internationally, and valid BOSIET/HUET certification.
