About This Opportunity

Join the Children’s Intensive Care Research Program within the Child Health Research Centre and use your clinical research and project management expertise to help improve outcomes for critically ill children. Working alongside a collaborative, internationally recognised multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate the final phases of the MRFF-funded NITRIC Follow-up Study, which is examining outcomes for children who have undergone heart surgery. Based at the Centre for Children’s Health Research, adjacent to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane, you will help translate complex research into meaningful clinical impact.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate multi-centre, investigator-initiated research, including project planning, monitoring, evaluation and delivery across participating sites.
  • Prepare and manage project documentation, including research agreements, ethics and governance submissions, study protocols, presentations, progress reports and research outputs.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, risks, dependencies and deliverables, providing informed project management and subject matter advice to support successful outcomes.
  • Build effective relationships with chief investigators, clinicians, research coordinators, collaborators and other key stakeholders, while supporting data capture, study completion and research dissemination.

This is a part-time (40%), fixed-term position through until December 2026 at HEW Level 7.

About You

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant health, clinical or science discipline, together with at least three years of extensive experience managing and coordinating clinical research studies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Good Clinical Practice, the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and relevant research governance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-centre research studies of comparable scale and scope with minimal supervision.
  • Strong project management capability, including experience developing study documentation, managing timelines, monitoring risks and reporting to multiple stakeholders.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare research reports, publications, agreements, presentations and ethics submissions.
  • Strong data management skills and familiarity with electronic data capture systems such as REDCap.
  • Highly developed organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, supported by meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and preparing research publications, dissemination activities and associated research outputs.
