At pixlbio, we combine human iPSC-derived cell models with high-throughput imaging and AI-driven phenomics to help pharma and biotech partners make better, earlier decisions in drug discovery and safety assessment. Our clients include 11 of the 20 largest global pharma companies.

Now we’re adding transcriptomics to our platform, and we’re looking for an expert to lead it. As our first Principal Scientist, you’ll design, build, and run a fully automated transcriptomics facility, and shape how transcriptomic and phenomic data come together to create insight our partners can’t get anywhere else.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design and build-out of our automated transcriptomics facility, from technology selection to full operation
• Establish extraction-free, lysate-based 3′ RNA-seq workflows (e.g. DRUG-seq or BRB-seq type methods) in 96-, 384-, and 1,536-well formats, with plate-level barcoding and pooled library prep
• Own key decisions on methods, equipment, and vendors, including what to run in-house and what to partner on
• Develop and validate high-throughput, plate-based transcriptomics workflows suitable for screening
• Work closely with our automation and data science teams to integrate transcriptomics into our robotics and AI pipelines
• Set up QC standards, SOPs, and data workflows that meet the expectations of global pharma clients
• Act as our scientific expert on transcriptomics in client discussions and study design

Who you are

• PhD in molecular biology, genomics, or a related field, with roughly 8+ years of experience in industry, a core facility, or both
• Expert in NGS-based transcriptomics, ideally including high-throughput methods such as DRUG-seq, BRB-seq, or 3′ tag-seq
• Has built or scaled a transcriptomics or NGS operation before, not only used one
• Hands-on experience with lab automation and liquid handling in NGS workflows
• Solid understanding of transcriptomics data analysis and QC, and comfortable working alongside bioinformaticians and data scientists
• Independent and entrepreneurial, comfortable owning budgets, timelines, and technical decisions in a growing company
• Bonus: experience with iPSC-derived models, phenotypic screening, or combining multi-omics with imaging data
