Principal Security Engineer

Join a fast-moving organisation operating a portfolio of digital ventures in a highly regulated environment. You'll be part of a small, high-calibre security team helping shape security engineering practices across multiple products, platforms and emerging technologies.

Your new role

This is a genuine hands-on Principal Security Engineer opportunity, not an architecture-only or people-management role.

You'll lead the security engineering roadmap while remaining deeply involved in building and automating security controls across cloud-native environments. Working closely with platform and engineering teams, you'll drive Security as Code, DevSecOps and cloud security initiatives across AWS and Azure.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code and Security as Code initiatives
• Designing and implementing cloud security controls across AWS and Azure
• Building automated guardrails, policies and access controls
• Embedding security into CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows
• Developing detection capabilities and Microsoft Sentinel use cases
• Driving security automation and engineering maturity across the portfolio
• Acting as the senior technical SME and mentoring other security engineers
• Supporting security strategy for emerging AI and GenAI initiatives

What you’ll need to succeed

• Staff, Lead or Principal-level security engineering experience
• Deep DevSecOps and cloud security expertise
• Strong AWS and Azure experience
• Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally Terraform
• Security automation, Policy as Code and Security as Code capability
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel and detection engineering
• Strong understanding of modern CI/CD environments
• A hands-on approach combined with strong technical leadership and mentoring skills
