Principal Software Engineer- Test System Modernization

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Software Engineer- Test System Modernization to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.

This role will drive the modernization of large-scale embedded software testing systems, with a strong focus on improving engineering productivity and the effectiveness of validation workflows. The position will partner across teams to deliver high-impact technical initiatives that strengthen safety-critical software quality and support broader platform and process improvements. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an engineer who can solve complex problems, coach others, and help integrate cross-functional efforts to maximize delivery value.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $238,700 – $365,700 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to improve software engineering productivity and effectiveness
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements
• Take a hands-on approach to lead high-impact projects
• Communicate effectively while coaching and mentoring team members
• Analyze complex problems and devise effective solutions
• Integrate cross-team initiatives to maximize value delivery
• Modernize large-scale embedded software testing systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
• 15+ years of experience in validating software systems and leading architectural initiatives
• Deep understanding of software architecture for real-time systems
• Proven track record of shipping high-quality safety-critical products
• Experience architecting large-scale CI/CD and test automation pipelines
• Expertise in configuration management and risk-based regression testing
• Familiarity with data modeling, analytics, and API development
