Position: Principal/ Dean

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute the Institutions strategic plan in alignment with its vision, mission, and long-term objectives.
• Identify and develop growth opportunities in academic programmes, national and international partnerships, research, and institutional collaborations.
• Lead initiatives related to global outreach, institutional branding, innovation, and academic excellence.
• Drive institutional development and establish the Institution as a centre of excellence in management education.

2. Academic Administration

• Oversee curriculum development, programme delivery, academic planning, and quality assurance.
• Ensure effective implementation of modern teaching and pedagogical practices.
• Promote teaching excellence and continuous improvement in academic standards.
• Establish and monitor benchmarks for student performance, retention, progression, and graduation.

3. Faculty Management & Development

• Lead the recruitment, retention, development, and mentoring of high-quality faculty members.
• Encourage faculty members to undertake research, case development, consultancy, publications, and industry-oriented academic activities.
• Promote faculty development programmes, training, and continuous professional development.
• Ensure fair, transparent, and performance-oriented systems for faculty evaluation, development, and promotion.

4. Student Engagement & Development

• Ensure a nurturing, inclusive, and academically stimulating environment for students.
• Supervise academic advising, mentoring, student development, and career guidance initiatives.
• Strengthen placement and employability initiatives in collaboration with industry and corporate partners.
• Promote co-curricular, extra-curricular, leadership, entrepreneurship, and industry-relevant activities for holistic student development.

5. Industry & Corporate Collaboration

• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with corporates and industry bodies for internships, placements, guest lectures, live projects, executive education, and consultancy.
• Encourage industry-sponsored research, case studies, projects, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Strengthen the Institution’s corporate and industry interface.

6. Research & Innovation

• Build and nurture a strong research culture across the Institution.
• Promote interdisciplinary and collaborative research initiatives.
• Facilitate national and international research collaborations and academic partnerships.
• Encourage research publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
• Promote innovation, entrepreneurship, incubation, and start-up initiatives among students and faculty.
• Support faculty members in securing funded research projects and external grants.

7. Compliance & Accreditation

• Ensure compliance with applicable academic, statutory, and administrative norms of regulatory and accreditation bodies, including UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NIRF, NBA, and other relevant authorities.
• Lead institutional initiatives for accreditation, rankings, quality enhancement, and continuous improvement.
• Support and coordinate efforts towards national and international accreditations such as AACSB and EQUIS, wherever applicable.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory, academic, accreditation, and institutional reports.

8. Financial & Resource Management

• Participate in institutional budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation.
• Ensure optimal and effective utilisation of academic, financial, human, and infrastructure resources.
• Support the development of research grants, government funding, corporate partnerships, endowments, and other institutional funding opportunities.
• Ensure resources are aligned with the Institution’s strategic and academic priorities.

9. Governance & Reporting

• Lead and actively participate in key academic, administrative, and institutional committees.
• Contribute to institutional policy formulation and strategic decision-making.
• Ensure effective coordination among academic and administrative departments.
• Prepare and present academic, administrative, research, and institutional development reports to the Management and relevant regulatory/governing bodies.
• Maintain effective communication with faculty, students, industry partners, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

Academic Qualification

• Ph.D. in Management or a related discipline from a recognised university/institution.
• First-Class Master’s Degree in Management (MBA or equivalent).

Experience

• Minimum 15 years of academic experience, including at least 5 years in a senior academic leadership position, such as Dean, Director, Principal, Associate Director, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in academic leadership, institutional development, faculty management, and academic administration.
• Proven ability to lead institutional growth, quality enhancement, and strategic initiatives.

Research

• Strong research record with publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience in guiding doctoral/research scholars.
• Experience in undertaking or managing funded research projects will be preferred.

Desirable Attributes

• Familiarity with accreditation and ranking frameworks such as NAAC, NBA, NIRF, AACSB, and EQUIS.
• Experience in industry engagement, consultancy, executive education, or corporate training.
• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Exposure to international academic standards and international collaborations.
• Ability to manage diverse academic and administrative teams effectively.
• Experience in digital transformation and technology-enabled education.
• Strong understanding of contemporary developments in management education, higher education, research, and industry requirements.
