Key Responsibilities Supplier Management Develop, qualify, and manage a panel of PCB and PCBA suppliers to ensure capacity, quality, and cost targets are met. Lead supplier qualification activities including DFM (Design for Manufacturability) audits, process capability studies, and on-site technical assessments. Establish and maintain supplier scorecards tracking OTD, quality (PPM/DPPM), responsiveness, and cost performance. Drive continuous improvement initiatives with strategic suppliers to improve yield, cycle time, and cost. Manage dual-source strategies to mitigate single-source risks and ensure supply resilience. New Product Introduction (NPI) Partner with hardware design engineers early in the product lifecycle to provide supply chain input on PCB stackup, material selection, component placement, and testability. Lead PCB supply chain readiness activities for NPI programs, ensuring prototypes, EVT, DVT, and PVT builds are delivered on schedule. Review and approve PCB fabrication drawings, Gerber files, and assembly BOMs for supply chain feasibility. Coordinate first article inspection (FAI) and qualification lot approval with suppliers and internal quality teams. Support engineering change order (ECO) processes and assess supply chain impact of design changes. Demand Planning & Procurement Collaborate with program management and operations to develop accurate PCB demand forecasts and communicate capacity requirements to suppliers. Identify and mitigate supply risks related to raw material shortages, geopolitical factors, or supplier capacity constraints. Drive cost reduction initiatives through design optimization, competitive bidding, and volume consolidation. Quality & Compliance Ensure all PCB suppliers comply with IPC-2221, IPC-6012, and other applicable industry standards. Drive resolution of supplier quality escapes, non-conforming material reports (NCMRs), and 8D corrective actions. Ensure supply base compliance with environmental regulations including RoHS, REACH, and Conflict Minerals requirements. Maintain supplier documentation including qualified process parameters, material certifications, and inspection reports. Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as the primary supply chain liaison between hardware engineering, contract manufacturing, procurement, and operations. Support customer and internal audits related to PCB supply chain processes and supplier qualification. Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR) and provide feedback on PCB design choices that impact supply chain risk or cost. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
5+ years of experience in PCB or electronics supply chain engineering, commodity management, or hardware engineering. Strong working knowledge of PCB fabrication processes (rigid, flex, rigid-flex), surface finishes (ENIG, HASL, OSP), and laminate materials (FR4, high-Tg, Rogers, etc.). Hands-on experience with PCB design review processes including Gerber/ODB++ review, DFM analysis, and stackup validation. Experience managing suppliers in Asia-Pacific region preferred. Demonstrated ability to drive cost reduction, quality improvement, and lead time compression with external suppliers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical and business content to senior stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the semiconductor, SSD, or data-center storage industry. Familiarity with high-density interconnect (HDI) PCBs and advanced packaging substrates. Knowledge of NVMe, PCIe, and high-speed signal integrity considerations as they relate to PCB design and procurement. Certification in supply chain management (APICS CPIM/CSCP) or quality (ASQ CQE) is a plus. Experience with PLM/ERP systems (Windchill, SAP, Arena, Agile) for BOM and change management. Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
