Privacy Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced privacy professional with Mandarin speaking Skills to lead and strengthen data privacy and protection initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. This role will focus on implementing privacy frameworks, managing regulatory compliance, strengthening governance practices and embedding privacy considerations into business operations.

The successful candidate will work with regional and global stakeholders to develop practical privacy solutions, manage data protection risks and promote a strong culture of privacy awareness across a diverse, international organization.

The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of data protection regulations with practical program management and stakeholder engagement capabilities. They should be comfortable operating across different regulatory environments, influencing stakeholders at various organizational levels and translating privacy requirements into sustainable business practices.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of regional data privacy and protection initiatives.
• Partner with global and regional stakeholders to align privacy practices with organizational standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Translate global privacy objectives into actionable regional programs, considering local legal and business requirements.
• Support local privacy representatives in implementing consistent data protection practices across multiple countries.
• Develop, maintain and enhance privacy policies, procedures, guidelines and governance processes.
• Conduct privacy assessments, audits and reviews to evaluate compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Monitor regulatory developments across APAC and coordinate appropriate updates to policies, processes and controls.
• Provide practical guidance to business stakeholders on privacy obligations, risk mitigation and responsible data handling.
• Support privacy risk assessments, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and the implementation of appropriate risk mitigation measures.
• Coordinate the handling of data privacy incidents, investigations and data subject requests.

About you

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data privacy, data protection, privacy management, legal, compliance or risk management, preferably in a multinational environment.
• A postgraduate qualification in Law, Business or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Strong understanding of global data protection frameworks and regulations, including GDPR and applicable privacy laws across APAC.
• In-depth knowledge of regional data protection requirements, privacy risk assessments, DPIAs and risk mitigation strategies.
• Proven experience managing privacy initiatives or projects within complex, cross-functional stakeholder environments.
• Strong legal research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business recommendations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex privacy concepts to non-specialist audiences.
• Proactive, adaptable and solutions-oriented, with the ability to anticipate risks and manage competing priorities.
• High ethical standards, attention to detail and a strong commitment to data privacy and protection.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with international teams and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
