GENTLE DENTAL CARE
Private Associate Dentist
Location: BR4 0LZ
Days: Tuesday and Wednesday to start, with more days as the list grows
Time: 9:00 to 18:00
Fully private. 42% of private gross.
Hi, I'm Avi, the principal at Gentle Dental Care.
We've just refurbished our practice on the High Street in West Wickham and it's reopening as a fully private site. I'm looking for an associate to take it on and make it theirs.
There's a returning private patient base from before the refurbishment, roughly 1,200 patients a year, and recalls and remarketing to them are already running. New patient marketing is live on Google and social media, with a new website and online booking close behind.
What the practice needs now is a dentist who can see someone in pain, sort the problem that day, and then have the conversation about everything else. This is a site to build and develop, and I am looking for someone who wants to do that.
What it pays
42% of private gross, fully private, so no UDAs and no NHS diary. Lab fees are split 50/50.
For the first 6 months, while the list is building, there's a guaranteed minimum day rate depending on experience, starting at £500 a day. You'll take whichever is the greater of that or your 42%, so the risk of a new site sits with me and not with you.
The work
Emergency dentistry is where a lot of this starts, and it's where the opportunity sits. Patients arrive in pain, you get them comfortable, and what you're left with is somebody who trusts you and usually needs a great deal more than the tooth that brought them in. Emergency slots are protected in the diary every day, so when a new patient rings at nine in the morning there is somewhere to put them.
Composite skills matter here more than anything else on the list. Anterior and posterior, and enough confidence in your hands to put a bigger case in front of someone and mean it.
The surgery has a brand new Belmont Eurus chair, along with an OPG, an intraoral scanner and rotary endo. Sedation is available through our visiting sedation team, the same setup we run across the group.
There's no hygienist at High Street, so hygiene and recalls stay with you. It adds a useful amount to the day and it keeps patients with the dentist who diagnosed them.
If implant restorative is something you want to do, we can build it here. We can bring a surgeon in to place within the group, and if you already have experience we can mentor you further. Worth a conversation when we meet.
Who I'm hoping to hear from
GDC registered, with private experience and composite work you're proud of. This suits someone who wants to build a list and be paid for building it.
You'll need to be good with people and comfortable talking about money. The plan gets accepted in the surgery, and that part is yours.
Our nurse has been with us 5 years and knows the practice inside out, so you'll be well looked after from day one.
What you get from working here
A one to one with me every month, in the diary so it actually happens. Courses are funded, and we run communications workshops in house, which will matter more in this role than in most.
The surgery is brand new, so you're not inheriting somebody else's tired kit. And because you're starting as the practice reopens, the list you build is yours from the first patient.
Days
Tuesday and Wednesday to start, 9:00 to 18:00. The list is growing and there are more days here as it does. Tell me what you would want that to look like.
We're on the High Street, a few minutes' walk from West Wickham station.
