A leading international law firm is seeking a Japan-qualified Associate to join its growing Finance & Projects practice in Tokyo. Combining strong Japanese-law expertise with an extensive global network, the firm advises domestic and international clients on complex financing transactions, energy projects and infrastructure investments.

The Role

• Advise on domestic and cross-border project finance, acquisition finance, leveraged finance and related financial regulatory matters.
• Support renewable energy, infrastructure and data center projects, alongside other financing and commercial transactions.
• Work closely with multiple partners, practice groups and overseas offices, gaining exposure to a variety of transactions.
• Contribute to transaction structuring, legal due diligence, documentation and negotiations.
• Develop your expertise through project assignments that consider your experience and interests.

Your Skills

• Japanese attorney qualification (Bengoshi), with fewer than six years of post-qualification experience.
• Experience in project finance or another transactional practice, such as M&A, banking and finance or capital markets.
• A strong interest in developing a career in finance and projects; prior project finance experience is preferred but not essential.
• Strong legal analysis, drafting and communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
• English proficiency is not required at entry; company-sponsored language training is available.
