Role Description The Private Tutor role at Blackmon Tutoring is a part-time, hybrid position based in Dallas, TX, with a mix of in-home sessions and virtual instruction from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering personalized lessons aligned with the student’s classroom curriculum, reinforcing key concepts, and building effective study habits. The tutor will provide support in relevant subject areas, offer test preparation guidance, and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning styles and needs. The role involves communicating regularly with families about student progress, maintaining accurate session notes, and collaborating with the Blackmon Tutoring team to ensure consistent, high-quality educational support.

Qualifications

• Strong subject-matter expertise in one or more areas (e.g., math, reading/writing, science, foreign language, or test prep) and ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Experience with instructional planning and curriculum-based tutoring, including creating tailored lesson plans and using school materials effectively.
• Skills in working with diverse learners, including students with learning differences (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD), and the ability to adjust teaching methods accordingly.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building rapport with students and families, providing feedback, and maintaining professional boundaries.
• Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple students, schedule sessions reliably, and keep thorough records of progress.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a related field; teaching certification or formal tutoring experience is preferred.
• Comfort with technology for virtual sessions, including video conferencing platforms and basic digital tools used for instruction.
• Reliable transportation for in-home sessions in the Dallas, TX area and willingness to work a flexible part-time schedule, including some evenings or weekends.
