PRN - Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PRN (as-needed) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories
• Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed orders, including IV infusions and catheter care
• Monitor patients' conditions closely, recognizing signs of acute pain, infection, or deterioration and responding promptly
• Assist with procedures such as tube feeding, venipuncture, sterile processing, and wound suturing
• Document all patient care activities thoroughly using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and update care plans tailored to individual needs
• Support discharge planning and patient education to promote ongoing health management at home or in long-term care settings

Experience

• Valid and current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing
• Prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care settings
• Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth
• Experience in critical care areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, or trauma centers is highly desirable
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and documentation standards for accurate medical records management
• Skilled in patient assessment techniques across various populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal ventilator management, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia-related conditions
• Familiarity with infection control practices and acute pain management strategies
• Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams while demonstrating excellent caregiver communication skills
