About Cambridge Caregivers

Cambridge Caregivers provides private-duty in-home care for seniors. Headquartered in Dallas with firm roots in the hill country, Cambridge is owned by Texas Longhorns and provides highly skilled, warm and attentive caregivers who care for our clients like family. We offer a range of care for our clients ranging from companionship services to care for those with highly complex needs. Our clients are located throughout Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and the surrounding areas.

About the position

The Registered Nurse position is responsible for attentive, professional, and compassionate care for our valued clients. This position is responsible for creating an environment and experience for the client and their families that is comforting and caring. This role works to actively engage with the clients on a personal level to understand and respond to their needs.

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Austin team. This role is ideal for nurses who value flexibility while making a meaningful impact on clients’ lives. Opportunities may include daily visits, pillbox fills, nursing assessments, or performing as a drop-in RN for clients needing routine check-ins.

As part of our team, you will provide direct nursing care, ensure physician-directed treatments are followed, and delegate appropriate tasks to caregivers. You will act as both a trusted clinical resource and a reassuring presence for clients and their families.

This role requires a high degree of attention to detail, the ability to manage and transfer knowledge to other caregivers on the engagement, excellent communication skills and flexibility in scheduling and tasks.

Successful RN professionals exemplify initiative, client service orientation, respect for others, strong interpersonal skills, and technical excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct nursing assessments and ongoing monitoring of client conditions
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Fill medication boxes and provide medication management support
  • Vital signs monitoring
  • Educate clients and families on proper care strategies
  • Consult with physicians, caregivers, and family members to ensure care continuity
  • Serve as a trusted resource for caregivers, supporting training and adherence to care plans
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client care using Wellsky or similar tools
  • Uphold Cambridge Caregivers’ philosophy of compassionate, dignified, client-centered care
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all clients at all times. In emergency situations, follow Company procedures and client advance directives.
  • Understand your own technical and physical ability to safely perform required duties as assigned.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics and safety protocols in assigned duties.
  • Review engagement Care Plan prior to arrival. Assist clients as required and as directed by the Care Plan.
  • Always promote the maximum amount of independence from all clients. Encourage the client to do as much as possible for themselves.
  • Report unsafe shifts, and change in the condition of the clients’ emotional, physical, or psychological state, and workplace safety concerns to the Company immediately.
  • Refer questions or complaints to the Administrator or Assistant Administrator.
  • Independently clock in and out of shift using our time and attendance app, WellSky.
  • Follow Cambridge Caregivers Policies and Procedures.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Current Texas RN license or Compact license in good standing
  • Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Reliable transportation to travel to client homes
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Friendly, compassionate demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfort with technology for documentation (Wellsky or similar)
  • Previous experience in home health, hospice, or personal assistance care
  • Familiarity with delegating tasks in a home care setting
  • Experience working with older adults experiencing brain change (dementia, ALZ, stroke, neurodegenerative condition), or post-op recovery
