Process Control Technician

Purpose of the Role:

• Testing support for Production areas Gel, Extrusion, and Shirring
• Calibrate/verify laboratory equipment used by Operations
• Support of incoming raw materials testing
• Maintenance of laboratory records logged in Lab notebooks

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform NGP gel analysis – solids, HCl (Acidity), pH
• Perform Mixer analysis-solids, HCl (Acidity), pH
• Perform Instron – Longitudinal, Radial, Denatured
• Perform Full Length Tensile analysis
• Analyze Glycerin in casing
• Analyze Oil content in casing
• Analyze Oven-dry moisture/Solids
• Analyze Balloon testing as special request
• Perform Ground hide sample preparation and testing- Oven-dry moisture/Solids, acid content
• Perform Metal detector verification testing - CCP

Key Performance Metrics:

• Accuracy of data reported, using monthly audits
• Timeliness of data reported; from time sample is logged until data is documented and results reported to Production
• Availability of data maintained in laboratory notebooks as records

1 year previous experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

This position is a hands-on, site-support role operating within a food manufacturing environment. The employee regularly works in both a climate-controlled office setting and a fast-paced manufacturing facility. Frequent interaction with Supply Chain, Production, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse personnel is required.

The manufacturing environment may expose employees to varying temperatures, moderate to high noise levels, moving machinery, forklift traffic, food ingredients, and sanitation activities. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, hair and beard coverings, steel-toe footwear, and other required protective equipment, must be worn when entering production areas.

This position requires extensive use of computers, Microsoft Office applications, and other business systems. Employees must be able to effectively review and analyze large volumes of system-generated data while maintaining attention to detail.

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
• Ability to frequently view computer monitors and perform data analysis and data entry tasks.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, video conferencing, and email.
• Ability to walk throughout office, warehouse, and manufacturing areas several times per day.
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to occasionally climb stairs and navigate uneven industrial surfaces.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and carry materials as needed.
• Ability to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, with most lifting requirements being light in nature.
• Ability to respond effectively to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment requiring frequent problem-solving and decision-making.
