Help bring our brand-new manufacturing facility to life

PolyPipe Australia is entering an exciting stage of growth with the commissioning of our new, purpose-built manufacturing facility in Toronto.

We are seeking experienced and hands-on manufacturing professionals to work alongside our Manufacturing Coordinator during the installation and commissioning of new extrusion lines and associated plant. Once the new facility is operational, the position will transition into a Process Controller / Leading Hand role, supporting safe, efficient and high-quality production.  This is a unique opportunity to be involved from the beginning—learning the new equipment, helping establish operating standards and ultimately taking a leading role within the new factory.

About the roles

During the commissioning phase, you will:

• Assist the Manufacturing Coordinator, suppliers, and technicians with installing & commissioning new machinery.
• Participate in trials, testing, start-up validation, and hands-on troubleshooting to resolve commissioning issues.
• Help create and refine standard operating procedures, start-up/shutdown protocols, and changeover instructions.
• Establish safe work practices, standardised operating parameters, and quality/environmental compliance.
• Support the training of production employees on the new equipment.

Once the factory is operational, you will transition into Process Controller / Leading Hand responsibilities, including:

• Equipment Operation: Run and monitor extrusion lines and plant equipment to maintain stable, approved processing conditions.
• Team Coordination: Direct operators, allocate daily work, and manage shift priorities to meet production schedules.
• Process Troubleshooting: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process variations or equipment faults, escalating when necessary.
• Quality Assurance: Perform sampling, testing, and inspections to ensure products meet required specifications and standards.
• Documentation & Tracking: Monitor output, waste, and downtime while accurately maintaining production logs and quality records.
• Safety & Compliance: Champion strict housekeeping, environmental protocols, and workplace safety standards.
• Problem Solving: Support investigations into non-conforming products and help implement effective corrective actions.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Coach team members, foster a positive culture, and work closely with cross-functional departments on continuous improvement.

About you

We are looking for someone who enjoys being on the factory floor, understands manufacturing processes and is comfortable taking the lead when required.

You will ideally have:
