Process Development Associate

About The Opportunity A global biopharmaceutical company is seeking an Associate to join a small, collaborative team of scientists and engineers in its pilot-scale bioprocessing lab. This group develops and tests new technologies for future large-scale biologics manufacturing and supports process development and technology transfer for both early and late stage programs.

Cambridge, MA | 100% Onsite | $30 to $33/hr | 12-Month Contract.

Responsibilities

• Run pilot-scale upstream and downstream operations, from cell bank thaw through final drug substance freeze.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot bioprocessing equipment including single-use bioreactors, chromatography systems, and filtration systems (TFF, viral filtration, UF/DF).
• Pack and qualify chromatography columns.
• Test process samples using analytical instruments.
• Record work in electronic lab notebooks following GDP and applicable SOPs.
• Write, review, and revise SOPs, batch procedures, forms, and technical reports.
• Monitor, analyze, and summarize process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement, 5S, and a clean, organized workspace.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Physics, or a related field (Chemical Engineering strongly preferred).
• 1 to 5 years of relevant experience, including co-op, internship, academic, or industry work.
• Strong foundation in scientific and math concepts such as pH, pressure, flow rate, mass, volume, density, dilutions, and basic algebra.
• Basic understanding of cell metabolism.
• Comfort working in a wet lab, pilot plant, or operations environment.
• Clear, concise verbal and written communication.
• Familiarity with GDP and data integrity principles (ALCOA+).
