What they need
Adaptavate is a business of the future, a dynamic team of engineers, thinkers, parents, walkers, traders, dreamers, climbers, scientists, gardeners, friends, family and visionaries. People who think differently to make a big impact through our work… together.
We are answering the urgent call to decarbonise construction globally, by developing the low carbon and carbon-negative technologies and products needed, with the industrial ecosystem to deploy them fast, anywhere in the world.
We firmly believe that our work is pivotal to achieve net zero by 2050.
To succeed in our mission, we are looking for a Process Engineer who will shape our most impactful technology to date, our carbon storing plasterboard. This position will be a core part of our Engineering team, responsible for developing our engineering platforms and report to the Chief Operations Officer.
At Adaptavate, you’ll have the opportunity to use your technical expertise to solve real-world challenges and help develop the next generation of low-carbon building materials. You’ll work with cutting-edge tools, including machine learning, to analyse data, model process conditions, costs and performance, and turn your findings into practical improvements. You’ll have the freedom to develop new relationships, test procedures, investigate unexpected results and ask the questions that move our understanding forward.
Working alongside a technically ambitious team, you’ll take ownership of development projects, collaborate with internal colleagues and external partners, and see your work contribute directly to the development and commercialisation of innovative products.
If you’re curious by nature, thrive on solving complex technical challenges and want to see your expertise translate into tangible environmental impact, we’d love to hear from you.
This role will include, but is not limited to;
- Working closely with pyrolysis equipment suppliers to develop suitable solutions for our application
- Sourcing Biomass in volume and with suitable quality controls
- Pyrolysis process development to produce consistent high-quality Biochar
- Process modelling
- Become internal expert on CDR credits and compliance documentation
- Working alongside our technical team to develop product formulations
- Advising, supporting and enhancing our analytical chemistry foundation.
- Planning and delivering test campaigns.
- Working in the bridge between Research and Development, applying lean DoE methodologies to deliver results rapidly.
You will have;
- Experience of working on pyrolysis to produce biochar
- A degree in a relevant engineering subject
- A minimum of 5 years industrial experience in process engineering
- Expert skills in process modelling, plant design and DoE
- Ideally have a good understanding of CDR credits, registers, standards and MRV
- An eye for detail, and a drive for results. Speed and quality of results can be a difficult balance; you will have autonomy to drive towards results based on logic.
- The dedication to getting results, being equally comfortable at a desk, with an external test house or in the lab.
- Experience of being outward facing, you should be comfortable being autonomous, managing key relationships and confident working with third parties.
In this role as our next Adaptavator, you will grow and develop your key career skills. This will be developed through a blend of personal mentorship and applied learning.
The impact of our business is realised by the cohesion and growth of our team members. We aim to create a collaborative, supportive, fun and respectful working environment that enables you to thrive.
Collectively, we can lead the carbon change in construction for a better future!
