Process Engineer

Responsibilities

1. Production Routine

Oversees the production in material dispensing, bulk manufacturing, filling and packing functions, ensuring that SOPs & WI are followed, and the finished goods are produced in conformity to quality standards, yield and cost standards.

a. Lead team of Supervisors, Line Leaders and workers to ensure the production schedule is executed smoothly, optimizing capacity and resources utilization. Ensure the fulfilment of planned orders on timely basis.

b. Study monthly production forecast versus capacity & resources allocated. Review daily output and production issues, bring forth to Management’s attention should there be any issue in meeting the requirement.

c. Liaise with HR to ensure full labour force provided as budgeted to respective sections.

d. Facilitate production floor with consumable items and necessity to ensure smooth daily operations.

e. Liaise with QC, R&D, Purchasing and Planning on any production issue that may arise.

f. Attend validation of any new formulation and new equipment, follow up on issues until production is running smoothly.

g. In coordination with the Maintenance Department, ensure production machineries are kept in efficient operating condition.

2. Work Standard

a. Prepare SOP and WI and update whenever there are process changes.

b. In conjunction with R&D, establish and update bulk manufacturing procedures via SAP.

c. Prepare SAP user guides relevant to production activities.

3. Motivate and Train Workers

Together with Production Supervisors, motivate and instill awareness of:

• Quality standards

• Production safety

• Operational procedures

Organize on-the-job training regularly to enhance work competency of Supervisors and factory workers, ensuring compliance with:

• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

• ISO 9001

• ISO 14001

• Production Personal Hygiene

• Good Housekeeping

• Safe & Healthy Environment (OSHA)

• Chemical waste disposal regulations

4. Continuous Improvement

a. Study process flow to optimize bulk manufacturing, filling and packing processes for maximum output.

b. Troubleshoot production issues.

c. Lead Supervisors and factory workers in achieving departmental objectives.

d. Monitor Production KPI, OEE and process flow, identify and recommend changes or modifications in work methods or machinery to improve production efficiency or product quality.

e. Enforce Safety and Security procedures in the factory and report any unsafe conditions or security concerns.

5. Monthly Report

• Compile wastage, output and headcount reports.

• Summarize Production KPI/Chart on a monthly basis.

• Monitor productivity of respective working areas.

• Attend meetings to follow up short-term and medium-term production requirements or other production-related matters.

• Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions.

• Perform other duties assigned by Management from time to time.

Requirements

• Degree holder majoring in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree in any related field.

• Knowledge of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and Autonomous Maintenance (AM) principles.

• Basic understanding of pneumatic, mechanical, electrical and sensor systems.

• Experience in operating and maintaining filling, capping, labeling, coding and packaging machines is an added advantage.

• Able to read technical drawings, machine manuals and maintenance procedures.

• Familiar with GMP, HACCP, ISO and workplace safety requirements.

• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, CMMS / SAP maintenance systems preferred).

• Able to work independently and support shift operations when required.

Experience

• Degree holder majoring in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree in any related field.
