Process Engineer

About the role

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Process Engineer to join our engineering team in Bukit Minyak, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in optimising and improving our manufacturing processes. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for analysing, designing, and implementing process improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency across our operations. This role is integral to ensuring that our production processes meet the highest standards and contribute directly to the company's operational excellence and competitive advantage.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse existing manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement
• Design and develop process improvements that increase productivity, reduce costs, and enhance product quality
• Monitor and evaluate process performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and statistical data
• Conduct root cause analysis on process failures and implement corrective actions
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth implementation of new or modified processes
• Create and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions
• Perform troubleshooting and optimisation of manufacturing equipment and systems
• Support quality assurance initiatives and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and kaizen activities
• Train production staff on new processes and best practices
• Maintain equipment logs and contribute to preventive maintenance schedules

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or equivalent discipline) or relevant professional qualification
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in process engineering or manufacturing engineering roles
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing principles, and six sigma methodologies
• Proficiency in process simulation and modelling software
• Experience with statistical analysis tools and quality management systems
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
• Strong project management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and process mapping tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Ability to work independently and take initiative whilst supporting team objectives
• Knowledge of ISO standards and industry compliance requirements is advantageous
• Familiarity with electronics or semiconductor manufacturing is preferred but not essential
