Process Engineer

Provide Process Engineering support to ABJV FPSO Operations in Angola. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the production systems on the FPSO. You will work closely with onshore engineering disciplines as well as offshore operations, maintenance, and HSE teams to optimize production, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as site process engineer and provide day to day operational support for all related aspects of the topsides facilities operations and for all FPSO marine systems that interface with the topsides.
• Monitor and optimize process systems to ensure maximum efficiency and production rates.
• Conduct daily surveillance and analysis of plant performance (e.g., gas processing, oil separation, water treatment, etc.).
• Prepare and present technical reports on process performance, deviations, and recommended improvements.
• Identify and implement improvements to minimize downtime and enhance operational performance.
• Provide troubleshooting and technical support for process-related issues, including equipment failures and process upsets.
• Work with the operations team to resolve process-related problems and optimize recovery and throughput.
• Where required, perform detailed process engineering calculations and simulations to support plant troubleshooting and optimisation activities.
• Contribute to the design, modification, and upgrading of process systems, including but not limited to, piping, separation equipment, rotating equipment and control systems.
• Participate in process engineering design assurance activities such as HAZID/ENVID/HAZOP as necessary. Be actively involved in the closure of all process engineering related actions.
• Ensure operational compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulations (e.g., performance standards, HSE standards).
• Monitor process safety systems to ensure the highest safety standards are met, including risk assessments, hazard analyses, and operational audits.
• Support the management of safety and environmentally critical elements (SECEs) and integrity management systems.
• Participate in the development and review of Operational Risk Assessments (ORAs) for plant operations where a Performance Standard failure or impairment exists, or where planned maintenance on a Safety- and Environment-Critical Element (SECE) has been deferred.

Health, Safety, Environmental and Security Responsibilities:

• Adhering to the IOGP ‘Life Saving Rules’.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of, and compliance with, the Corporate Major Accident Prevention Policy.
• Ensuring Angolan legislative requirements and best practice are met, whilst aligning as closely as possible with Corporate HQ policy.
• Attend all mandatory Health, Safety, Environmental and Security training.
• Ensuring knowledge of safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, company policy and instructions.
• Ensure a high level of process safety acumen is demonstrated at all times, adhering to the 8 principles of process safety leadership and therefore a continued focus on preventing major accident hazards and loss of containment.
• Safeguard all company data, systems and operations by adhering to cybersecurity policies and procedures, including using strong and unique passwords, and promptly reporting any suspicious activities or security breaches.

Requirements:

• Relevant Process Engineering experience within FPSO or offshore oil and gas operations .
• Strong knowledge of topside production systems, including gas processing, oil separation and water treatment.
• Experience in process monitoring, production optimisation, troubleshooting and plant performance analysis.
• Able to perform process engineering calculations and simulations.
• Experience supporting process-system modifications and upgrades involving piping, separation equipment, rotating equipment and control systems.
• Familiar with process safety studies such as HAZID, ENVID and HAZOP.
• Good understanding of HSE requirements, risk assessments, operational audits and regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of Safety and Environment-Critical Elements (SECEs), performance standards and Operational Risk Assessments.
• Able to work closely with offshore operations, maintenance, HSE and onshore engineering teams.
• Strong technical reporting, problem-solving and communication skills.
