PROCESS ENGINEER

Responsibilities:

1. Program & Process Development

• Lead DFAM and GD&T design reviews
• Develop manufacturing processes meeting quality, cost, and production targets
• Plan plant layout, material flow, and equipment needs
• Work with Industrial Engineering on capacity and cycle time
• Support prototype builds

2. Equipment & Capital Management

• Define and manage capital equipment, tooling, and modification costs
• Oversee equipment design, build, installation, and certification
• Ensure equipment readiness for launch and PPAP
• Track budget, timelines, and risks
• Resolve equipment and manufacturing issues

3. Launch & Plant Support

• Ensure completion of all manufacturing launch gates
• Coordinate plant readiness (staffing, layout, utilities)
• Support process handover to plant manufacturing and maintenance teams

4. GMAW Process Development & Optimization

• Develop and optimize welding parameters (current, voltage, wire feed, gas, speed)
• Create and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
• Conduct welding trials and capability studies
• Improve cycle time and reduce defects (e.g., spatter, porosity)

5. Production Support & Quality

• Provide daily technical support for welding issues
• Troubleshoot defects and implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with AWS, ISO, and customer standards
• Perform root cause analysis and support audits
• Maintain process and welding documentation

6. Continuous Improvement & Safety

• Drive cost reduction (materials, gas, rework)
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
• Ensure welding safety compliance
• Train operators on welding processes and best practices

Requirement:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / manufacturing / Welding Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years experience in Robot GMAW / MIG welding process (automotive experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of welding metallurgy and weld defect analysis.
• Experience with robotic welding systems is an advantage.
• Familiar with AWS D1.1, ISO 3834 or equivalent welding standards.
• Industrial Engineering Skills (Plant layout – AutoCAD, process flow, material layout, Direct and Indirect labor efficiency)
