Process Engineer

About the role

PCBA Process Engineer to develop and document manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies which yield reliable high-quality assemblies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement manufacturing process technologies, methods, and techniques to assist and promote the building of reliable, high quality PCBA assemblies
• Develop and maintain product assembly procedures (Work instructions) for PCBA assemblies
• Provide active consultation to new product development teams regarding manufacturing capabilities, techniques and issues related to design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM)
• Assist in the preparation of new product cost estimates including applicable NRE
• Identify, specify, validate, document, implement, and train on new equipment and processes
• Design production equipment and fixtures to aid in the assembly of product while improving operator safety/comfort, reducing labor and improving quality
• Provide technical training in PCBA manufacturing techniques, methods, and processes to manufacturing associates
• Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, changeovers, and costs
• Investigate and diagnose product manufacturing issues and respond to internal and external customer requests for changes and improvements
• Coordinate the implementation of product design changes
• Collect, record, and present data applicable to the status of production projects assigned to you.

About you

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, electrical, electronic) or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience in PCBA assembly
• Good knowledge of SMT process and technology
• Good knowledge of wave soldering process and technology
• Familiar with IPC 610 guidelines
• Self-starter and strong problem solver
• Ability to lead and work as a member of a team
• Comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Excellent organization and decision-making skills
• Experience with validation efforts
