What they need

Description Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is building a world-class last mile operation in Japan. AMZL aims to exceed customer expectations by ensuring orders are delivered quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively.

The Amazon Logistics Japan Process Engineering team is seeking a Process Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the standardization and optimization of our Last Mile delivery network to meet safety, customer experience, productivity, quality, and cost goals.

The successful candidate will support the optimization of AMZL Delivery Stations by contributing to process innovations, developing safe and efficient equipment, and supporting infrastructure design standards. You will partner closely with regional Operations and Operations Support teams to identify best practices and contribute to their establishment as JP AMZL network design standards.

This role involves regular communication with local functional business owners and technical Engineering teams. You will support the development, piloting, and deployment of design changes while contributing to JP continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is based in Tokyo. The position requires regular domestic travel and occasional international travel (approximately 15% of work time).

At Amazon, you'll work alongside the latest AI and GenAI tools that are increasingly woven into how teams operate: from AI-powered capabilities that accelerate decision-making, to Generative AI that helps you focus on work that truly matters. You'll have opportunities and resources to develop AI fluency at your own pace, with continuous learning built into the culture.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support equipment and process design – Assist in the design, piloting, and deployment of equipment and processes that improve safety, ergonomics, operational cost, capacity, and throughput across AMZL Japan delivery stations, under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Contribute to standardization and documentation – Support the creation and maintenance of design process standards to ensure consistency in equipment specifications and operational processes across the Japan network.
  • Execute project delivery – Manage individual projects from concept through implementation, coordinating with stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, and Tech to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Identify and support solutions to operational challenges – Conduct site visits and data analysis to identify operational pain points, and support the development and validation of engineering solutions that deliver measurable improvements.
  • Build technical knowledge and reporting skills – Develop technical expertise in assigned areas, prepare progress updates and reports for senior engineers and leadership, and contribute to alignment with network-wide engineering roadmaps.
