Process Engineer/ Project Engineer

Our client, an established metal fabrication company, is seeking a Process Engineer / Project Engineer to join their team!
  
This is a great opportunity for a mechanical engineering graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on exposure to project management within a metal fabrication plant. Based in Shah Alam, Selangor, this role offers the chance to work across the full project lifecycle, from shop drawings and technical specifications through to production, installation, and final delivery, while collaborating closely with the R&D, QC, and procurement teams.
  
What you'll be doing?   

• Managing fabrication projects — Manage projects within the metal fabrication plant, overseeing progress from planning through to completion.
• Leading project planning and scheduling — Lead the implementation of ongoing project plans and work schedules (Orange Folder) to keep deliverables on track.
• Tracking project timelines — Keep track of project timelines and ensure timely delivery, starting with long lead time and special items.
• Collaborating on technical requirements — Work closely with the R&D Department on shop drawings and technical specifications to ensure all technical requirements are met.
• Coordinating procurement — Prepare Material Purchase Requests (MPR) in a timely manner and trigger Requests for Quotation (RFQ).
• Developing production processes — Develop, optimise, and evaluate production processes upon completion of product briefing.
• Driving process improvements — Recommend process improvements to enhance production quality and capacity.
• Resolving quality issues — Investigate problems, analyse root causes, and define resolutions for Non-Conformance Reports and customer complaints.
• Ensuring smooth production — Ensure that all production processes run smoothly and efficiently.
• Upholding safety and quality standards — Ensure all processes comply with safety and quality requirements by implementing the second dry fit process.
• Coordinating with cross-functional teams — Engage closely with QC, subcontractors, and procurement to address technical issues related to product design.
• Supervising on-site installation — Work on site to supervise installation when necessary.
• Maintaining project documentation — Use the company server to store project photos and documentation in line with company procedure.
• Preparing deliveries — Ensure materials are ready and labelled before delivery, and that the Packing List and Finished Goods Checklist are tallied accurately.
• Taking on ad-hoc tasks — Carry out other ad-hoc assignments as assigned by the manager from time to time.

Who are they looking for?   

• Educational background — A Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field provides a strong foundation for this role; candidates with no prior experience are welcomed to apply.
• Relevant experience — Experience of around two years in the metal fabrication industry would be beneficial, though not essential.
• Independence and flexibility — The ability to work with minimal supervision, along with a willingness to work overtime when necessary, is important for success in this role.
• Technical proficiency — Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and SolidWorks is preferred to support day-to-day project tasks.
• Language proficiency — Conversational ability in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required to communicate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Organisational skills — Being well organised, highly responsible, and reliable in carrying out daily tasks and duties will help the successful candidate thrive in this role.
