Process Project Engineer

Arcadis are seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Process Engineer to support a major pharmaceutical capital project in the Midlands.

The opportunity would particularly suit candidates based in Westmeath, Roscommon, Offaly, Longford, Galway and West Dublin .

The role will focus on the design, specification, delivery and qualification of new Oral Solid Dose (OSD) process equipment . Working alongside the Engineer Responsible, you will take ownership of equipment packages and drive activities from early-stage design through vendor engagement, qualification and commercial handover. The project is progressing from Concept Design into Basis of Design , and we are looking for experienced engineers who can hit the ground running, take ownership of their scope and operate with minimal supervision.

Typical Responsibilities

• Take ownership of assigned OSD process equipment packages from design through qualification and commercial handover.
• Support the specification, selection, design and procurement of pharmaceutical process equipment.
• Develop and review process engineering deliverables during Concept Design and Basis of Design .
• Provide process engineering input into the design and layout of manufacturing and process rooms.
• Develop and review equipment requirements, specifications and design documentation.
• Work closely with equipment vendors throughout design development, technical reviews, manufacture and delivery.
• Provide technical expertise across powder handling, powder processing and tablet manufacturing equipment .
• Participate in equipment design reviews, vendor assessments, FATs and associated technical activities.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, validation and qualification.
• Work closely with CQV, automation, manufacturing, quality, safety and wider project engineering teams.
• Identify technical issues and independently drive them through to resolution.
• Ensure equipment designs meet GMP, operational, safety and project requirements.
• Support the transition of new equipment through qualification and into commercial manufacturing.
• Undertake occasional travel to equipment vendor sites across Europe, the UK and potentially the US.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Process Engineer, Senior Process Engineer or Lead Process Engineer within pharmaceutical manufacturing or capital projects.
• Strong Oral Solid Dose (OSD) experience is essential.
• Demonstrable experience with powder processing and solid-dose pharmaceutical manufacturing .

Knowledge / Experience working on the following equipment / processes would be a distinct advantage

• Strong technical knowledge of equipment associated with areas such as:
• Powder handling and transfer
• Dispensing and weighing
• Milling and sieving
• Blending
• Granulation
• Drying
• Tablet compression / tabletting
• Tablet coating
• Containment systems
• Proven experience delivering pharmaceutical process equipment projects .
• Good understanding of equipment specification, vendor management, design reviews and equipment procurement.
• Experience supporting commissioning, validation and equipment qualification , including FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ and PQ activities.
• Experience working on pharmaceutical capital projects from early design through execution would be highly advantageous.
• Ability to independently manage and drive equipment packages with minimal supervision.
• Strong technical problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across engineering, CQV, quality and manufacturing functions.
• Flexibility to undertake occasional international vendor travel.

Please note: This position specifically requires OSD / solid-dose and powder-processing experience. Candidates whose experience is predominantly within biologics or liquid biopharmaceutical processing without relevant OSD experience are unlikely to be suitable.
