Process Technician (CNC)

Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Technician (CNC) to join our team. The Process Technician (CNC) will be responsible for operating, setting up, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining CNC machines to ensure the efficient production of high-quality precision parts. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge in CNC machining and skiving operations, the ability to interpret technical drawings and process documentation, and excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

CNC Machine Operation and Setup:

• Operate computer-controlled CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and other motorized equipment, to manufacture precision components according to specifications.
• Set up CNC machines by preparing workpieces, tooling, fixtures, programs, offsets, coolant, and other required parameters.
• Perform machine dry runs and verify machine settings before production to ensure safe and accurate operation.
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain production quality and efficiency.

CNC Programming:

• Create, modify, and interpret CNC programs using G-code and other applicable programming methods.
• Apply knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, tool offsets, and machining parameters to achieve required part specifications.
• Utilize CAD/CAM or conversational programming systems when applicable to support CNC machining operations.
• Troubleshoot program-related issues and make appropriate corrections to optimize machining processes.

Process and Defect Analysis:

• Analyze and interpret process documentation such as Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Checksheets, and technical drawings.
• Conduct product and process analysis to identify defects, determine root causes, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Investigate machining problems and process abnormalities to improve product quality, productivity, and process stability.
• Maintain accurate records and reports related to defects, machine issues, process improvements, and corrective actions.

Quality Control:

• Perform dimensional and visual inspections of machined parts to ensure compliance with specifications and engineering drawings.
• Use precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
• Support quality control activities and ensure that products meet required standards before proceeding to the next process.
• Identify and report quality issues and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve discrepancies.

Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of CNC machines and related equipment.
• Check coolant, oil, hydraulic systems, tooling, fixtures, and other machine components to ensure proper operation.
• Conduct basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and coordinate with maintenance personnel for major machine issues.
• Support preventive maintenance activities to minimize machine downtime and maintain equipment reliability.

Documentation and Operator Support:

• Prepare reports and technical documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Maintain accurate records of production activities, machine conditions, defects, inspections, and process improvements.
• Provide guidance and technical instruction to operators and line leaders regarding proper procedures, machine operation, and process requirements.
• Communicate effectively with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve operational and technical issues.

Qualifications

1. Graduate of any technical or vocational course; TESDA certification is an advantage.
2. At least 5 years of hands-on experience in CNC and skiving operations, particularly for jigs, fixtures, molds, and dies.
3. Strong knowledge of CNC and skiving programming, including G-code.
4. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, engineering drawings, and machining blueprints.
5. Experience in precision measurement, inspection, and quality control processes.
6. Knowledge of machine operation, troubleshooting, and basic mechanical and electrical repair, particularly for CNC machines and other motorized equipment.
7. Ability to analyze and interpret Work Instructions, SOPs, Checksheets, and other process documentation.
8. Basic knowledge of computer applications and software, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
9. Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to investigate product and process defects.
10. Good communication skills and ability to effectively teach and guide operators and line leaders on procedures and process requirements.
11. Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining accuracy and precision in machining operations.
12. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively prioritize tasks.
