About the Role

As aSterile Processing Tech II, you will be responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing medical instruments and supplies for patient care. You will play a vital role in infection control and patient safety by ensuring all equipment meets the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Decontamination& Sterilization: Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment per AAMI standards.
• Instrument Preparation: Inspect, assemble, and wrap surgical trays and equipment for use.
• Inventory Management: Maintain supply levels and ensure timely distribution to patient care areas.
• Equipment Handling: Operate specialized medical sterilization equipment safely and efficiently.
• Patient Support(Cedar Falls location only): Transport patients and assist nursing staff with pre-operative procedures.

What You Need to Succeed

• Education: High school diploma or GED required. Specialized training in sterile processing preferred.

• Experience: Minimum 6 months of experience working with surgical instruments or patient care support.

• Skills& Knowledge:

• Familiarity with medical terminology and sterilization techniques.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize urgent requests.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Work Environment& Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to25 lbs; push/pull up to150 lbs.
• Exposure to sterilization equipment, potential infectious materials, and a high-paced hospital setting.
• Must be comfortable working under pressure and following strict safety protocols.
