About Us
Australasian Mining Services (AMS) is a nationally recognised specialist in mining and exploration drilling supplies, with a track record spanning more than two decades. We provide the expertise and drilling products to meet virtually any project requirement, backed by a global supply and technical network. Our reputation is built on product quality, innovation and outstanding service.
About the Role
As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Procurement & Supply Chain Manager to lead the procurement, forecasting and inventory functions from our Forrestfield head office. This is a hands-on leadership role with full ownership of sourcing, planning and stock flow across our national branch network.
Leading a small, high-performing team, you will play a critical role in supporting business growth and operational continuity, controlling purchasing and freight costs, and bringing structure and discipline to forecasting and replenishment. Success means the right materials are in the right place at the right time, every time.
This role would be ideal for someone who takes genuine ownership, leads with initiative and is energised by optimising efficiency. You will set the standard for operational excellence while upholding the product quality AMS is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end procurement: manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and oversee all company purchasing across head office and branches
- Optimise freight and import logistics, securing best pricing across domestic freight and international supply to meet demand
- Lead demand forecasting and replenishment across all product lines, implementing forecasting tools, including AI technology, to improve accuracy
- Oversee inventory performance and reliable inbound supply across the branch network, including stock levels, inter-branch transfers, aged stock and stock-code integrity
- Drive operational and efficiency improvements across warehousing and inbound logistics
- Lead and develop the warehouse and inventory team, with shared oversight of the Sales Administration function responsible for stock purchasing
- Uphold WHS, quality (ISO 9001) and a Safety-First culture across all operations
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a procurement, supply chain or operations management role within mining, resources or a closely related sector
- Qualification in supply chain, logistics, business or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
- Proven experience importing from overseas suppliers, including freight, container logistics and customs
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical thinking across supplier negotiation, cost performance and inventory in a multi-site environment
- Proven ability to identify and implement process and cost-saving improvements
- A confident people leader who sets clear standards and develops team capability
- Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across operational, technical and management levels
- Proficiency with ERP or inventory management systems and Microsoft 365
Why Join Us?
- Competitive salary
- Genuine ownership of a core function with real decision-making authority
- Established, growing national business with strategic leadership and operational stability
- Ongoing investment in your development, with training where applicable
