Procurement Category Specialist - Major Gold Minner

An excellent opportunity has become available for experienced Procurement Category Specialists to join a major gold mining organisation with significant operations across Western Australia.

You will initially work FIFO from Perth on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster for approximately 3-6 months, allowing you to build strong relationships with operational stakeholders and gain a thorough understanding of the business. The role will then transition to a Perth-based position, with ongoing site travel as required.

The Opportunity

As Procurement Category Specialist, you will take ownership of strategic sourcing, category and supplier management activities, working closely with operational and corporate stakeholders to deliver strong commercial outcomes.

This is a commercially focused procurement position where you will manage the end-to-end sourcing and contracting lifecycle - from developing category and sourcing strategies through tendering, supplier evaluation and negotiation to contract award and ongoing supplier management.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Plan and implement strategic sourcing, category and supplier management plans
• Manage end-to-end tender processes across relevant spend categories
• Lead commercial negotiations for new contracts, renewals, amendments and extensions
• Develop category strategies that align supplier spend with business objectives and KPIs
• Analyse supplier pricing, spend and procurement data to support commercial decision-making
• Develop category reporting and provide meaningful procurement insights
• Support project and equipment procurement, including supplier prequalification
• Partner with internal stakeholders and legal teams on contract development and negotiations
• Manage supplier relationships while maintaining strong procurement governance

About You

We are looking for a procurement professional who combines strong commercial capability with an understanding of operational mining environments.

Ideally, you will bring:

• 4-5+ years' procurement experience, ideally within mining, resources, heavy equipment or a related industrial environment
• Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing and category management
• Strong end-to-end tender management capability
• Extensive experience negotiating contracts, renewals, amendments and extensions
• Strong supplier and stakeholder management skills
• Commercial acumen with the ability to analyse supplier pricing and spend
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capability
• Experience with SAP and/or Pronto will be highly regarded
• Relevant qualifications across supply chain, logistics, business or procurement will be advantageous
• CIPS qualifications are desirable.
