Procurement Engineer

We are looking for a Procurement Engineer to manage technical procurement activities for our water and wastewater treatment projects. The role will work closely with Engineering Project Team to ensure equipment and materials are procured according to technical specifications, quality requirements, budget and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement activities, from sourcing and quotation to Purchase Order (PO) issuance and delivery.
• Review technical specifications, drawings, datasheets, BOQ and material requirements to identify procurement needs.
• Source and evaluate suitable local and overseas suppliers/vendors.
• Obtain and compare technical and commercial quotations from engineering RFQ
• Coordinate with Engineering and Project teams on technical evaluation and vendor selection.
• Review supplier technical submissions, datasheets, drawings, compliance and deviations.
• Negotiate pricing, lead time, payment terms and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost and delivery.
• Identify alternative suppliers and support cost optimisation and value engineering initiatives.
• Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse and logistics for delivery, shipment and import/export matters when required.
• Support project teams in resolving technical, quality or delivery issues related to purchased items.
• Maintain proper procurement records, vendor documentation and project procurement status.
• Perform other duties related to procurement and supply chain as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in water and waste water treatment procurement or project procurement is an added advantage
• Good understanding of engineering equipment, materials, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience in supplier management, negotiations, and delivery performance improvement.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
