Procurement Engineer

• Manage end-to-end sourcing activities for sheet metal and fabricated components, from RFQ evaluation through supplier selection and final delivery.
• Generate and evaluate RFQs, review drawings, specifications, BOMs, and customer requirements, and obtain competitive technical and commercial quotations from suppliers.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers for sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, bending, welding, machining, surface treatment, and related manufacturing processes.
• Lead New Product Development (NPD) activities by coordinating with suppliers, Engineering, Quality, Production, and customers to ensure timely development and successful part approval.
• Review supplier manufacturing capabilities, process feasibility, tooling requirements, capacity, quality systems, and technical competence before supplier nomination.
• Drive sample/prototype development, first-off parts, trials, and pre-production activities, ensuring parts meet drawing, dimensional, material, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with suppliers to resolve technical, quality, delivery, and cost-related issues, ensuring timely corrective actions and uninterrupted project execution.
• Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, capacity, responsiveness, cost, and adherence to agreed commercial and technical requirements.
• Support cost reduction and value engineering initiatives through supplier negotiations, process improvements, alternate sources, material optimization, and manufacturing feasibility studies.
• Act as the key coordination point between customers, suppliers, Engineering, Quality, Production, and Procurement, ensuring smooth transition from RFQ and NPD to serial production and on-time delivery.
