Procurement Engineer

We are looking for a technically sound and experienced Procurement Engineer with knowledge of hazardous-area windows, fire-rated glass, industrial glazing systems, and specialized glass doors. The candidate should be capable of understanding technical specifications, identifying suitable manufacturers and suppliers, evaluating technical offers, and managing the complete procurement cycle.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of product specifications, material selection, compliance requirements, vendor coordination, and commercial negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end procurement of hazardous-area windows, industrial glass doors, fire-rated glazing, and associated accessories.
• Understand technical drawings, specifications, datasheets, BOQs, and project requirements.
• Identify and evaluate manufacturers and suppliers specializing in hazardous-area glazing systems.
• Review technical offers for compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
• Coordinate with engineering, design, quality, and project teams to clarify technical requirements.
• Obtain and compare quotations, prepare techno-commercial comparison statements, and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
• Verify product requirements such as glass type, thickness, frame material, dimensions, pressure resistance, impact resistance, fire rating, and other specified performance criteria.
• Ensure procurement compliance with applicable project standards, certifications, and client requirements.
• Follow up on purchase orders, manufacturing schedules, inspections, documentation, and deliveries.
• Review vendor documents, material certificates, test reports, warranties, and compliance certificates.
• Maintain vendor databases, procurement records, cost trackers, and delivery schedules.
• Support vendor inspections and quality checks, where required.

Technical Skills Required

• Knowledge of hazardous-area windows and specialized glass doors used in industrial facilities.
• Understanding of laminated, tempered, insulated, fire-rated, and other specified glazing systems.
• Familiarity with frame materials such as aluminium, steel, and stainless steel.
• Ability to read technical drawings, datasheets, BOQs, and specifications.
• Knowledge of applicable standards and certification requirements, depending on the project scope.
• Ability to assess technical deviations and coordinate with engineering teams for approvals.
• Experience in sourcing specialized glazing products from qualified manufacturers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Production, or a related engineering discipline.
• 3–7 years of experience in technical procurement, preferably in industrial projects, specialized glazing, or building-envelope systems.
• Experience dealing with manufacturers and suppliers of industrial windows and glass doors.
• Good negotiation, vendor management, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/procurement systems.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, chemical processing, or other industrial facilities.
• Knowledge of explosion-resistant or pressure-resistant windows, where applicable.
• Experience procuring certified fire-rated or other performance-rated glazing systems.
• Familiarity with project-specific standards, inspection requirements, and technical submittals.

Note: Candidates with hands-on technical procurement experience in specialized industrial windows and glass doors will be preferred over candidates with only general purchasing experience.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
