Procurement Engineer – Direct Materials

Our client is a leader in automotive manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage direct material sourcing for metal, rubber, plastic, and resin.
• Manage and support APQP activities with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, and improve supplier performance in terms of cost, quality, and delivery.
• Conduct supplier visits and audits locally and overseas, including China, Germany, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
• Work closely with R&D, Quality, Project Management, and Supply Chain teams to ensure successful project and sourcing execution.
• Drive VA/VE and cost-saving activities to optimise material cost and product value.
• Support sourcing activities, including supplier negotiation, cost analysis, supplier development, and project implementation.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of purchasing/procurement experience in the automotive industry, with hands-on experience in direct material.
• Strong experience in sourcing, supplier negotiation, cost saving, and VA/VE.
• Experience in APQP, supplier development, and supplier performance improvement.
• Able to read and understand technical drawings.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel overseas for supplier visits and audits.
• Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
