Procurement Engineer /procurement Executive

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Engineer to manage and coordinate the procurement of MEP materials, equipment, and services for building construction projects. The candidate should have strong knowledge of the UAE MEP market, supplier networks, technical specifications, commercial evaluation, and project procurement requirements.

. Key Responsibilities

· Review BOQs, drawings, specifications, material schedules and site requirements; prepare procurement schedules aligned with project programmes and priorities.

· Source and prequalify suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractors; obtain competitive quotations and prepare quotation comparison / bid tabulation for management approval.

· Negotiate prices, discounts, payment terms, credit facilities, warranties and delivery schedules, and issue approved PRs, RFQs, POs and subcontract documents.

· Verify that materials comply with approved brands, specifications, consultant/client requirements and authority standards before placing orders.

· Follow up manufacturing, inspection, dispatch and delivery; coordinate with Site, Stores and Engineering teams and escalate delays or critical long-lead items.

· Maintain procurement registers and complete records for RFQs, quotations, comparisons, approvals, POs, delivery notes, invoices, warranties and supplier correspondence.

4. MEP Procurement Scope

· Handle procurement of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, ELV/low-current systems, MEP equipment, consumables, tools, supports, spare parts and other project requirements.

5. Supplier & Subcontractor Management

· Maintain an approved supplier/subcontractor database, evaluate capability, quality, price, lead time and commercial terms, monitor performance and resolve shortages, quality issues and delivery delays.

6. Cost Control & Commercial Coordination

· Track procurement commitments against approved project budgets, identify savings and cost risks, review supplier invoices against POs and delivery documents, and coordinate payment terms with Finance.

7. Project Coordination

· Coordinate with Project Managers, MEP Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Site, Stores, QA/QC and Commercial teams to ensure procurement is synchronized with site progress and approved project schedules.

8. Reporting & Compliance

· Prepare weekly/monthly procurement status, long-lead item and supplier performance reports, maintain accurate records, follow approval limits and procurement controls, and support internal/external audits.

9. Qualifications & Experience

· Degree/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/MEP Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field, with relevant procurement experience in MEP/construction; UAE/GCC experience is preferred.

10. Skills & Competencies

· Strong negotiation, supplier management, commercial awareness, cost control, quotation analysis, BOQ/specification understanding, Excel/ERP skills, communication, coordination, follow-up, organization and problem-solving abilities.

11. Key Performance Indicators

· On-time delivery of critical materials, procurement savings, budget compliance, supplier response and performance, reduction of procurement-related project delays, documentation accuracy and effective management of long-lead items.

Required Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

· Minimum 5 years of relevant procurement experience in MEP/building construction, preferably within the UAE.

· Strong knowledge of MEP materials, equipment, suppliers, and subcontractors in the Dubai/UAE market.

· Experience in commercial, residential, hospitality, or infrastructure projects will be an advantage.

· Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Office, ERP systems, and procurement documentation.

· Strong negotiation, communication, coordination, and vendor-management skills.

· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple project requirements and deadlines.

· Good understanding of commercial terms, quotation evaluation, cost comparison, and purchase order processes.

· UAE/GCC driving licence would be an advantage.
