Procurement, Inventory & Dispatch Controller

Palmerston North | Full-time | Office-based

SeedSpider is looking for a technically capable and highly organised Procurement, Inventory & Dispatch professional to join our growing operations team in Palmerston North.

The role is responsible for managing the flow of goods into and out of the business, maintaining accurate inventory, supporting production and sales requirements, and coordinating the procurement and dispatch of parts and products globally.

This is a hands-on technical procurement role. You will need practical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, electronic and robotic components, enabling you to understand requirements, identify suitable alternatives when parts are unavailable, and contribute ideas for improved components, suppliers and solutions.

What you'll be doing

● Procure parts and components from local and international suppliers.

● Work with Engineering, Production and Sales to understand requirements and ensure parts are available when needed.

● Use your technical knowledge to identify suitable alternatives when components are unavailable, out of stock or end-of-life.

● Manage supplier information, pricing, orders, lead times and delivery commitments.

● Receive and process incoming goods, including quantity checks and supporting quality checks.

● Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels against production requirements.

● Identify shortages, discrepancies and inventory risks early.

● Coordinate international dispatch of parts and machines, including freight, shipping documentation and packing lists.

● Work closely with Engineering, Workshop, Production and Sales to keep requirements and priorities aligned.

● Identify practical improvements that reduce delays, shortages, cost and operational friction.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who combines technical understanding with strong procurement and organisational skills.

You'll ideally bring:

● Practical technical experience in mechanical, electrical, electronics, automotive, agricultural machinery, robotics or a similar environment.

● A good understanding of mechanical components, materials and hardware.

● Working knowledge of electrical and electronic components.

● Experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory or supply coordination, preferably in a technical environment.

● Strong organisation and attention to detail.

● The ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate clearly with suppliers and internal teams.

● A practical, analytical and solutions-focused approach.

● Experience with international purchasing, engineering drawings/BOMs, inventory systems or international freight would be advantageous.

What success looks like

You'll make sure the right components are sourced accurately and available when needed, inventory is reliable, suppliers and logistics are actively managed, and Engineering, Workshop, Production and Sales can rely on an effective procurement function.

This is a role for someone who takes ownership, gets into the detail and solves problems, rather than simply placing orders.
