What they need

Procurement Manager

FG Europe UK is the exclusive distributor of Midea HVAC products in the UK and Ireland.

Midea is one of the world's largest HVAC manufacturers, and the Midea brand continues to grow rapidly across the UK and Ireland.

To support that growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Procurement Manager to take ownership of procurement, stock planning and product availability across our UK and Ireland operations.

This is a key commercial role within the business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring we have the right products, in the right quantities, at the right cost and at the right time, while avoiding unnecessary overstock and working capital exposure.

You will work closely with Sales, Finance, Logistics, Warehouse teams and our international supply partners to review demand, current stock, future requirements, purchase pricing, manufacturing lead times and incoming shipments.

A major part of the role will be looking ahead, identifying potential shortages or excess stock early and making clear recommendations on future purchasing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of procurement and stock planning for the UK and Ireland
  • Review current stock levels, sales demand, forecasts and future requirements
  • Plan purchase orders to maintain strong product availability without creating unnecessary overstock
  • Monitor fast-moving, slow-moving and ageing stock and recommend appropriate action
  • Analyse historical sales and forward demand to improve purchasing decisions
  • Monitor manufacturing, shipping and delivery lead times
  • Maintain clear visibility of all stock on order and expected arrival dates
  • Work closely with Sales teams to understand upcoming projects, customer demand and changes in requirements
  • Review supplier pricing, purchasing costs and product cost movements
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing costs and overall landed cost
  • Liaise directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners regarding orders, pricing, availability and lead times
  • Identify potential stock shortages, supply delays and other risks before they impact customers
  • Ensure purchase orders are raised early enough to account for manufacturing and international shipping lead times
  • Work closely with Logistics and Warehouse teams to manage incoming stock
  • Support the efficient import and movement of products into the UK and Ireland
  • Support stock movements through bonded warehouse facilities where applicable
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure shipments and import documentation are accurate and completed on time
  • Maintain accurate procurement, stock, pricing and delivery information within our ERP systems
  • Provide regular reporting to management on stock position, purchasing requirements, incoming shipments, costs and potential supply risks
  • Continuously improve procurement, forecasting and stock management processes as the business grows

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within procurement, purchasing, supply planning, inventory management or a similar role
  • Strong experience managing stock levels and future purchasing requirements
  • Proven ability to balance product availability against excess stock and working capital
  • Strong understanding of procurement, supplier pricing and supply lead times
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers and international supply chains
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills
  • Confident analysing sales, stock and purchasing data
  • Ability to manage a large number of products and competing priorities
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Advanced or strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using an ERP, purchasing or stock management system

Desirable

  • Experience working directly with manufacturers or suppliers in China
  • Experience importing products from China or other international markets
  • Experience within HVAC, manufacturing, distribution, engineering or a similar sector
  • Experience with international freight, customs and import processes
  • Experience working with bonded warehouse facilities
  • Experience coordinating shipments into Ireland
  • Understanding of customs and documentation requirements for UK and Ireland supply
  • Experience in demand forecasting and inventory planning
  • Experience reviewing or negotiating supplier pricing
  • Experience calculating or reviewing landed product costs
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP platform
  • Experience managing a large product portfolio

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organised and commercially minded
  • Analytical and confident working with data
  • Proactive rather than reactive
  • Able to anticipate future stock requirements and supply risks
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions and making recommendations
  • Confident dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of decisions
  • Calm and organised when priorities change
  • Strong at problem solving
  • Focused on accuracy, availability and cost control
