Procurement Officer Technical & Industrial Procurement

Role & responsibilities :

1. Procurement & Purchase Operations

• Manage end-to-end procurement of machinery, spare parts, equipment, components, consumables, and other industrial materials.
• Coordinate with internal departments and overseas units in Nigeria and Ethiopia to understand and consolidate purchase requirements.
• Process purchase requisitions, obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements, and issue purchase orders.
• Ensure timely availability of materials based on production requirements, urgency, budgets, and delivery schedules.
• Follow up with suppliers for order confirmations, dispatches, and timely delivery.

2. Technical Procurement

• Handle procurement of Injection Moulding Machines, Plastic Processing Machinery, Pipes, Dies/Moulds, auxiliary equipment, electrical components, and spare parts.
• Understand technical specifications, machine capacities, drawings, configurations, and application requirements.
• Coordinate with technical and production teams to ensure procurement meets approved specifications.
• Identify suitable manufacturers and suppliers for machinery, engineering equipment, and technical materials.

3. Vendor Development & Management

• Identify, evaluate, and develop domestic and international suppliers.
• Obtain and compare technical and commercial quotations.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and commercial conditions.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships and develop alternative sourcing options.
• Monitor vendor performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and service.
• Resolve supplier-related issues involving quality, pricing, shortages, and delayed deliveries.

4. Cost Control & Purchase Coordination

• Conduct price comparisons and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Monitor purchase budgets and ensure procurement within approved financial limits.
• Coordinate with finance teams for invoice verification, payment processing, and supplier settlements.
• Coordinate with stores and concerned departments for material receipt, inspection, and documentation.
• Maintain accurate purchase records, invoices, purchase orders, and supplier details.

5. Procurement MIS & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain procurement MIS reports covering purchase orders, pending requirements, delivery schedules, vendor performance, and cost savings.
• Track purchase order status and follow up on outstanding materials.
• Maintain supplier databases, quotation records, purchase registers, and procurement documentation.
• Provide regular procurement updates and escalate critical purchase issues to management.

Preferred candidate profile :

• Hands-on experience in industrial machinery, equipment, components, and spare parts procurement.
• Knowledge of Injection Moulding Machines, Plastic Processing Machinery, or Plastic Pipe Manufacturing Equipment will be an added advantage.
• Experience in domestic and international purchasing preferred.
• Strong understanding of vendor development, quotation comparison, purchase orders, and commercial negotiations.
• Ability to interpret basic technical specifications, drawings, and material requirements.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Office, and ERP/Purchase Management Systems.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, coordination, and follow-up skills.
• Ability to independently handle multiple purchase requirements and meet procurement deadlines
