About the role
We are looking for a Purchasing Support colleague to join our growing team in Chiang Mai.
As Purchasing Support, you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of purchasing activities for Lavastica International and Lavastica Asia. You will process purchase orders, communicate with international suppliers, monitor deliveries, maintain accurate purchasing data, and make sure our Sales team receives reliable information about availability and expected delivery dates.
You will work closely with the Purchasing Supervisor, Sales team, Head of Procurement, and Logistics/Warehouse. This is an operational role where accuracy and follow-up are essential. Placing an order is only the beginning... you are responsible for monitoring it and making sure issues are identified and addressed before they become bigger problems.
This role suits someone who is structured, accurate, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced international environment. You should be willing to ask questions, learn quickly, and take responsibility for following tasks through until they are completed.
About Lavastica
Lavastica International is an international trading and service company headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Since 1998, we have supplied technical systems, spare parts, and services to the maritime, offshore, and industrial sectors worldwide.
Our Thai branch in Chiang Mai opened in 2023 and continues to grow. From Thailand, we support our international operations together with colleagues in the Netherlands and other regions.
We work in an informal and close team environment internally, while maintaining a professional and reliable approach towards our customers and suppliers.
English is our company language, and you will communicate daily with international suppliers and colleagues from different countries.
What you will do
- Review incoming purchase requests and check product specifications, quantities, and required delivery dates
- Create and issue purchase orders to approved suppliers accurately and on time
- Review supplier order confirmations and compare them with our purchase orders
- Check pricing, quantities, payment terms, and delivery dates and resolve discrepancies when necessary
- Monitor outstanding purchase orders and actively follow up with suppliers on delivery schedules
- Expedite orders when necessary to reduce the risk of delays or stock shortages
- Identify potential delivery issues early and take appropriate follow-up action with suppliers
- Keep the Sales team informed about availability, lead times, delays, and expected delivery dates
- Process goods receipts and provide the required internal feedback
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information in Exact Online and internal purchasing overviews
- Maintain data such as supplier details, lead times, minimum order quantities, pricing, and commercial conditions
- Communicate professionally with international suppliers on a daily basis
- Handle first-line supplier issues such as incorrect quantities, damaged deliveries, returns, warranty matters, and credit notes
- Follow company purchasing procedures and the preferred supplier framework
- Support the Purchasing Supervisor and Head of Procurement with supplier evaluations, reports, discrepancies, and other purchasing-related tasks when required
Who we are looking for
You will fit well in this role if you:
- Work accurately and systematically, even when handling many orders at the same time
- Pay close attention to prices, quantities, delivery dates, and other order details
- Are proactive and do not wait for problems to become urgent before taking action
- Are comfortable following up repeatedly with suppliers when information or deliveries are outstanding
- Communicate clearly and keep colleagues informed when circumstances change
- Take responsibility for your tasks and follow them through until completion
- Learn quickly and are comfortable working with many different products, suppliers, and procedures
- Ask questions when something is unclear rather than making assumptions
- Have a good memory for information and are able to build up knowledge about suppliers, products, and purchasing conditions
- Are comfortable working with ERP systems, spreadsheets, numbers, and data
- Are a team player who understands that Purchasing and Sales need to work closely together
- Can prioritize effectively when several orders or supplier issues require attention at the same time
Experience with technical products, international purchasing, supply chain operations, or ERP systems is an advantage, but more important is your accuracy, attitude, ability to learn, and willingness to take ownership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
- Preferably 1-3years of experience in purchasing, procurement support, supply chain, order management, or a similar operational role
- Professional working proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Accurate and comfortable working with numbers, pricing, and data
- Good computer skills and confidence working with ERP systems and Microsoft Office
- Driving license and own car or motorbike due to limited public transport access to our office
What we offer
- A motivated and ambitious international team environment
- Competitive salary based on your qualifications and experience
- Performance based bonus
- A healthy company culture where hard work is valued and recognized
- Group insurance coverage
- Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:30 working hours
- Company-sponsored Friday lunches and regular team outings
- Option to work from home after probation
Start date: 1 October 2026
