Procurement Specialist

About Us

Orkom is looking for Procurement Specialists / Senior Procurement Specialists with expertise in different product categories to support the procurement activities of our projects.

In line with our company's expanding operations and new projects, the successful candidates will be responsible for planning procurement processes, evaluating suppliers, conducting negotiations, and ensuring cost-effective and efficient procurement operations.

Candidates are expected to have knowledge and experience in at least one of the four areas of expertise listed below.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan procurement processes for assigned product categories in line with the requirements of mining and construction projects.
• Collaborate with project teams to identify procurement needs and evaluate technical specifications and product requirements.
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers within relevant product categories and develop alternative sourcing options.
• Conduct effective supplier negotiations to secure competitive pricing, favorable delivery schedules, and contractual terms.
• Collaborate with project, engineering, finance, and operations teams to improve the speed and efficiency of procurement processes.
• Ensure that procurement activities are carried out in accordance with project budgets, technical requirements, and financial plans.
• Evaluate supplier performance, conduct cost analyses, and implement process improvements to achieve cost advantages and operational efficiency in procurement processes.

Areas of Expertise

Mining and Process Equipment

• Knowledge and experience in explosives, mining chemicals, conveyor systems, crushing and screening equipment, grinding media, cement and concrete batching plants, and pumping systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mineral Processing Engineering.
• Experience in procurement, process operations, or plant maintenance within the mining industry, or in sales or service departments of companies supplying equipment to mining facilities.

Construction Site, Accommodation Camp, and General Procurement

• Knowledge and experience in the procurement of furniture, food supplies, cleaning materials, kitchen equipment, and other general supplies for construction sites and accommodation camps associated with mining and construction projects.
• Experience in procurement within the hospitality, mining, heavy industry, or construction sectors.
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

Heavy Machinery and Spare Parts

• Knowledge and experience in heavy machinery, mechanical equipment, machinery spare parts, maintenance and repair materials, and technical consumables.
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Experience in procurement within the mining, heavy industry, or construction sectors, or in manufacturing, sales, service, or supply operations related to heavy machinery and spare parts.

Electrical, Electronic, and Energy Systems

• Knowledge and experience in the procurement of electrical and electronic materials, facility electrical systems, generators, pumps, energy systems, lighting, and communication equipment.
• Preferably familiar with the procurement processes of Solar Energy Systems (PV systems), Information Technology (IT) products, and related technical equipment.
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in procurement or technical sourcing within the mining, heavy industry, energy, or construction sectors.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, as specified under the applicable area of expertise.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant procurement and sourcing processes.
• Experience in at least one of the four specified areas of expertise.
• Experience in procurement within the mining, heavy industry, energy, hospitality, or construction sectors, or related technical supply operations, as applicable to the relevant area of expertise.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to evaluate technical specifications and product requirements, and compare product and supplier alternatives.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing and favorable delivery terms.
• Competence in developing procurement strategies, evaluating supplier performance, and conducting cost analyses.
